GETTING STARTED MUSIC MATTERS begins the therapy process by gathering information from parents or caregivers through an informal intake, which can typically be done over the phone. Once background information has been gathered and areas of concern have been identified, an assessment session can be scheduled. During this initial session, the therapist will present a variety of music-based activities and interventions and note responses to these tasks. After the assessment process, the therapist will make recommendations regarding duration and frequency of sessions, as well as suggest targeted goals. MUSIC MATTERS, Inc. IS PROUD TO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING SERVICES: IN-HOME 1:1- individualized sessions are held in the client’s home and are typically 30-50 minutes in length, once per week. IN-HOME GROUP- Interested in in-home therapy, but want to add a social aspect to sessions? Does your child have friends who would enjoy and benefit from music therapy? Group sessions allow for shared play, turn-taking, and listening and responding to others. Choose one home location to meet and Music Matters will provide group music therapy sessions for up to 4 individuals. Sessions are typically 60 minutes in length, once per week. CONTRACT- MUSIC MATTERS provides contract music therapy to local agencies that serve individuals with special needs. Group music therapy sessions provide appropriate opportunities for social interaction, self expression, and development of cognitive and behavioral skills. Individual music therapy sessions are appropriate for those participants who may need a more focused learning environment, with each session tailored to meet the individual’s specific needs. BIRTHDAY PARTIES- It can be challenging to plan and host a birthday party for a child with special needs- the appropriate activities, entertainment, or theme. For this reason, Music Matters, Inc. is introducing Celebrate with song. This program consists of customized, music-based activities conducted by a board certified music therapist at your child’s birthday party. It is interactive, stimulating, tailored to fit the needs of your celebration, and fun! Favor CDs are an option and include music from your party. Music Matters will come to your chosen location within the tri-state area. Depending upon location, a small additional travel fee may apply. Contact with as much notice as possible to assure that your date is available. Birthday music matters, too! Please contact Music Matters for rates and session availability.
